For your images, you will assume that the RGB photoreceptors of the camera have their dominant spectral sensitivities at long, medium, and short wavelengths respectively. (The exact spectral sensitivity is unknown.) You will also assume that the digital camera has mapped the light energy absorbed at each pixel in each RGB channel to a value in 0 to 255, using a non-linear mapping that is similar to the log mapping used in Eq. (1) in the Ruderman paper. These two assumptions will allow you to run A1.m directly on the RGB images instead of on the log LMS images (which you don’t have).
